• This facility is available in addition to the existing visa service.

India Visa Requirements for UK, AU, NZ, US & Canadian Residents:

The online application should be submitted a minimum of 4 working days and a maximum of 120 days in advance of proposed date of arrival. Entry to India must be within 120 days of the eTV approval date and the visa is valid for 60 days from arrival.

To apply online you’ll need to complete the application form, upload a copy of your passport data page, upload a passport sized photograph (full face, front view and eyes open, white background with no shadow) and pay the visa cost.

After submitting your application, you will receive a receipt number and within the coming days (the Government of India notes this as 4 days) you will receive authorization.

You will need to print a copy of this document to check-in for your flight and again at immigration when arriving to India. You are also required to carry a copy of the eTV at all times during your stay. These are 60 day, double-entry visas and are valid for entry into 16 designated airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum & Varanasi.

You may not wear eyeglasses.  No headwear except for religious purposes. Do not wear a white shirt.  Should you elect to submit actual photographs then you must submit 2 photographs that meet all of the above criteria and:

• Be exactly 2 inches by 2 inches square
• Be printed on high-quality glossy photo paper
• Not be affixed to your application, with no evidence of adhesive tape or staples
• Passport photo vendors commonly produce photographs that do not meet these requirements. Visa Central cannot submit applications with incorrectly formatted photographs.

Visa Application Form

• Display your name exactly as it appears in your passport
• Include answers to all fields
• Be signed on the first page under the photo, and, on the second page. Both signatures must match the signature in your passport

India uses an E-VISA system. Processing takes 3 to 10 working days. Canadians will get their visas stamped into their passports upon arrival at one of twenty-four major airports or three major seaports in India once their e-Visa is approved and emailed to them. If you want to stay in India for longer than 60 days then an e-visa will not be appropriate for you.  This article is going to explain step by step, in-depth, how to apply for an Indian visa from the UK. I have a similar post on how to apply for an Indian visa from the USA.  A long term tourist visa will allow you to have a visa to enter India between 1 and 5 years with multiple re-entries. The visa lets you stay in India for a maximum of 180 days per trip. If you want a 5-year visa, Biometric information will be collected at the VFS Centre. You cannot apply for a 5-year visa by post.

Apply Online UK Visa Process

If you want to do a postal application please select UK-London. Visa applications by post can be made as long as it less than a  5-year visa duration. ALL applicants requiring a 5-year tourist visa will need to make an appointment application as biometric information is required (fingerprints and photo).

Steps to apply

1. Visit the Indian E Tourist Visa website for visas and immigration in India and apply for a visa.
2. On the day of your appointment, plan to arrive 15 minutes early at the visa application centre. Bring your appointment letter and application pack, your passport, along with a valid passport or travel document.

When you arrive at the visa application centre you will collect a token. Wait until your token is called to make your application.

Once the visa filing process is completed you will be issued with an acknowledgment receipt. Please hold on to your receipt as you will need this later to collect your documents.

Important note: You will not be able to submit further documents once your application has been submitted at the Indian Visa Online Process for application. The documents that you submitted at the time you made your application will be the only documents that are considered.
